Naila Khan

Founder & Lead Immigration Advocate (IAA Level 3)

Naila Khan is one of the most experienced and respected immigration law practitioners in the region, and the founding force behind Buckingham Legal Associates. With a career spanning over two decades, she has built a reputation for delivering expert, compassionate, and results-driven immigration advice to individuals, families, and businesses alike. Her depth of knowledge, combined with her genuine dedication to her clients, makes her one of the most trusted names in UK immigration law.

Naila's journey into immigration law began in 2003, at a time when the landscape of UK immigration was undergoing significant change. She immersed herself in the field from the outset, developing a thorough and nuanced understanding of immigration law that has only deepened over the years. She went on to graduate with a BA Honours in Law from Kingston University in 2006, before going on to gain invaluable experience at one of London's leading human rights and immigration law firms. It was there that she honed her skills, built her expertise, and developed the vision that would eventually lead her to establish her own firm.

In 2012, Naila founded Buckingham Legal Associates, and what began as a bold entrepreneurial step has grown into a highly regarded immigration law firm with a strong track record and a loyal client base. Under her leadership, the firm has gone from strength to strength, earning a reputation for the quality of its advice, the care it shows to its clients, and the results it consistently achieves. Naila has been the driving force behind every aspect of that success — not just as a legal practitioner, but as a leader, a mentor, and a businesswoman.

As a legal practitioner, Naila is accredited to Level 3 — the highest level of accreditation awarded by the Immigration Advisers Authority — which permits her to handle the most complex immigration cases, including substantive preparation for appeal work and full representation before both the First-tier Tribunal and the Upper Tribunal. Her areas of expertise span business immigration, detention and removal cases, and appeals, and she is particularly well regarded for her handling of complex human rights cases. Clients facing the most difficult and high-stakes immigration challenges know that they are in exceptionally capable hands when Naila is on their case.

Naila's standing in the field extends well beyond her casework. She is a recognised voice on immigration and human rights matters, having been invited to share her expertise and opinion on BBC Three Counties Radio and Awaaz Radio, where she has spoken on a wide range of immigration issues affecting individuals and communities. Her ability to break down complex legal matters into clear, accessible commentary has made her a valued contributor to public discourse on immigration — and someone the media turns to when expert opinion is needed.

Alongside her broadcast appearances, Naila is a prolific writer and commentator on immigration law. She regularly writes blogs and articles that provide practical insight into the latest developments in UK immigration policy and legislation, helping clients, professionals, and the wider public navigate an increasingly complex and ever-changing system. Her writing reflects the same qualities that define her legal work — clarity, authority, and a genuine commitment to making immigration law understandable and accessible to those who need it most.

Perhaps one of the most telling measures of Naila's expertise is the impact she has had on those she has trained and mentored. She provides in-house training to legal advisors and has done so throughout her career, and the results speak for themselves — she has trained numerous legal advisors who have gone on to achieve accreditation at the highest level. That is no small achievement, and it speaks to both the depth of her knowledge and her ability to pass that knowledge on effectively. Her training is rigorous, practical, and rooted in real-world experience, and those who have benefited from it carry the hallmarks of her high standards in everything they do.

Naila speaks English, Urdu, and conversational Pashto — an ability that has proven invaluable in building trust with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and ensuring that language is never a barrier to accessing expert legal advice.

Outside of work, Naila is a deeply thoughtful and curious person. She has a long-standing passion for philosophy and is an admirer of the Stoics in particular — her favourite reads include Letters from a Stoic by Seneca, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and The Conquest of Happiness by Bertrand Russell. She is a self-confessed Trekkie with a love of sci-fi, and Interstellar and Star Trek hold a special place in her list of all-time favourites. She unwinds with Pakistani pop — particularly the band Noori — and enjoys sketching, writing, and tending to her garden. An animal lover at heart, she shares her home with her cat Leo and her Labrador, and when the weekend allows, she loves nothing more than heading out for a long trek — something that suits her reflective nature and her appreciation for the outdoors equally well.

Naila also has a particular passion for process and innovation — she enjoys exploring new software, coding, and finding smarter, more efficient ways to do things, a mindset that has played no small part in shaping Buckingham Legal Associates into the firm it is today.

Naila Khan is, quite simply, exceptional at what she does. Her clients benefit not just from her legal expertise, but from her integrity, her tenacity, and her unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome in every case she takes on. If you are looking for an immigration lawyer who will fight your corner with knowledge, dedication, and genuine care, you need look no further.

Umar Khan

CEO and Business Expert

With over 20 years of legal experience behind him, Umar Khan is one of the driving forces behind Buckingham Legal Associates, playing a central and hands-on role in both the operational management of the firm and as a highly knowledgeable business operations advisor for companies navigating the complexities of international hiring and workforce expansion. That two decades of experience spanning private practice, in-house legal work, and business management gives him a depth of knowledge and a commercial perspective that is genuinely rare — and one that businesses who work with him come to appreciate very quickly.

Umar's role at Buckingham Legal Associates is a distinctive and carefully considered one. He is not a legal advisor, and he does not provide legal advice — but what he does provide is something that many businesses need just as much: clear, experienced, commercially grounded guidance on the business side of international hiring and workforce growth, combined with a direct and trusted connection to the firm's accredited immigration legal advisors who can take matters forward on the legal side. For businesses, that combination — having someone who understands both the commercial landscape and the legal pathway, and who can bridge the two seamlessly — is enormously valuable. Umar is the first point of contact, the person who listens, understands, and ensures that every business is pointed in exactly the right direction from the very beginning.

Beyond his role in connecting businesses to the right legal expertise, Umar also advises on broader business matters — from growth strategy and operational planning to the practical challenges of scaling a business that relies on international talent. His background means he is well placed to have those wider conversations with business owners and directors, offering insight and perspective that goes beyond immigration alone and into the kind of holistic business support that companies genuinely benefit from at every stage of their growth journey.

Umar works regularly with businesses of all sizes — from growing SMEs exploring overseas recruitment for the first time, to established companies looking to expand their workforce internationally. He understands the pressures, timelines, and commercial realities that businesses face when looking to hire from abroad, and he is able to cut through the complexity and provide clear, informed guidance on the options available before ensuring they are seamlessly handed over to the firm's accredited legal advisors to handle the legal process with expertise and care. Whether a business is considering applying for a sponsor licence, looking to understand the requirements of the Skilled Worker route, or seeking broader advice on how to structure their international hiring strategy, Umar is the person they turn to first — and his knowledge and experience means they are always in safe hands from the very first conversation.

One of Umar's greatest strengths is his awareness of the ever-changing landscape of UK immigration law and policy. Whilst he does not practise as a legal advisor, he makes it his business to stay thoroughly informed about legislative updates, policy shifts, and procedural changes — ensuring that the businesses he works with are always given an accurate and up-to-date picture of the environment they are operating in, and that the wider team at Buckingham Legal Associates is always equipped with the knowledge and resources they need. In a field as fast-moving and high-stakes as immigration law, having someone at the helm of operations who truly understands the environment the firm operates in makes an enormous difference — both to the team and to the clients they serve.

Umar holds a first-class LLB in Law, which laid the foundation for a legal career of genuine distinction. He went on to complete his Legal Practice Course, achieving a Distinction — a result that placed him among the very best of his cohort and reflected the exceptional legal mind he had developed throughout his studies. His specialism was employment law, and following his studies he went on to work at one of the most reputable employment law firms in the country, where he gained invaluable experience and a sophisticated understanding of the legal and commercial pressures that businesses and individuals face in the workplace. From there, Umar moved into the corporate world as an in-house legal advisor for a multinational company — a role that gave him a unique and powerful perspective on how large organisations operate, how commercial decisions intersect with legal obligations, and what businesses truly need when navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.

That combination of legal education, private practice experience, in-house corporate work, and broad commercial exposure across multiple industries is what makes Umar's offering to businesses so genuinely distinctive. He understands the law well enough to have an informed and meaningful conversation about it, whilst knowing precisely when and how to connect a business to the accredited legal expertise they need to move forward with confidence.

Umar's interpersonal skills are another asset that should not be overlooked. He is someone who builds trust quickly, communicates clearly, and has a natural ability to put people at ease — qualities that matter enormously when businesses are making significant decisions about their workforce and their future. He speaks English, Urdu, and Pashto fluently, further extending his ability to connect with businesses and clients from a wide range of backgrounds.

Outside of work, Umar is a dedicated family man and someone who applies the same energy and enthusiasm to his personal life as he does to his professional one. He is an avid cyclist and hiker, enjoys travelling and exploring new destinations, and has a genuine love of food — whether that's trying a new restaurant or sharing a meal with family and friends. He follows football and cricket passionately — his allegiances firmly with England and Arsenal on the football front — and his film tastes lean towards the timeless classics, with Rambo and The Godfather among his all-time favourites. Musically, he has a rich and varied palette, from Coke Studio and the legendary voices of Kishore Kumar and Rafi, to the nostalgia of 90s Hindi music.

Umar Khan is, in every sense, a cornerstone of Buckingham Legal Associates — someone who brings two decades of experience, energy, and a genuine commitment to excellence to everything he does. For any business looking to navigate the complexities of hiring from abroad, expanding their operations internationally, or simply looking for a trusted and experienced advisor who understands both the commercial and legal dimensions of their challenges, Umar is exactly the right person to speak to first.

That breadth of experience, combined with her deep specialism in some of the most complex and sensitive areas of immigration law, makes her an exceptional asset to the firm and an unwavering advocate for the clients she represents.

Saira graduated from Kingston University in 2006 with an LLB Honours degree before going on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2016 and has been working in immigration law since 2013, developing her expertise across a range of challenging and emotionally demanding areas of practice. That accumulated experience, gained across different settings and case types, is evident in everything she does, and clients who come to her in their most difficult moments quickly discover that they are in exceptionally capable and caring hands.

Saira's area of specialism is complex asylum law, and it is here that she truly excels. She is highly experienced in handling the full spectrum of asylum matters, with a particular expertise in modern slavery cases — an area that demands not only sharp legal knowledge but a sensitive and trauma-informed approach to working with vulnerable individuals. Saira understands the profound weight of these cases and the very real consequences that hang on their outcome, and she approaches every case with the thoroughness and dedication it deserves.

She is also highly specialist in UKPNP asylum cases — a complex and evolving area of asylum law that requires a sophisticated understanding of both the legal framework and the specific country conditions that underpin these claims. Saira's knowledge in this area is well regarded, and she has built a strong track record of handling these cases with the precision and authority they demand.

Alongside her asylum work, Saira is an authorised advocate when it comes to appeals. She regularly represents clients before the First-tier Tribunal and has a thorough understanding of what it takes to build a compelling appeal case from the ground up. One of her most recognised strengths is her ability to draft detailed witness statements and complex legal representations — a skill that clients and colleagues alike hold in the highest regard. Her written work is meticulous, persuasive, and carefully tailored to the specifics of each individual case, and it is often cited by clients as one of the things that gave them the greatest confidence throughout what can be an incredibly daunting process.

Saira also works closely with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and victims of domestic violence — groups who require a particularly thoughtful and sensitive approach, and for whom the quality of legal representation can be life-changing. Her ability to build trust with vulnerable clients, ensure their voices are heard, and advocate robustly on their behalf is one of the things that sets her apart as a practitioner.

Beyond her casework, Saira plays an important role in the development and quality of the wider team at Buckingham Legal Associates. She regularly conducts in-house training sessions, drawing on her specialist knowledge to keep colleagues informed and up to date on developments in asylum law, modern slavery, and complex casework. She also supervises junior legal advisors on a day-to-day basis, providing guidance, feedback, and oversight that ensures the firm's high standards are maintained across the board. Her willingness to share her expertise and invest in the growth of those around her speaks volumes about her character, and the junior members of the team who have benefited from her supervision have gone on to develop considerably under her guidance.

Saira speaks English and Urdu fluently, which allows her to communicate clearly and naturally with a wide range of clients, ensuring that nothing is lost in translation at the moments that matter most.

Outside of work, Saira is a self-confessed Marvel fan and enjoys a good movie marathon. She is also a keen video gamer and enjoys playing cricket and badminton, and values her time spent with family and friends — a reminder that behind the serious and demanding nature of her work is someone who brings warmth, humour, and humanity to everything she does.

Saira Tahir is, in every sense, a specialist of the highest calibre. For anyone facing complex asylum proceedings, a modern slavery claim, a UKPNP case, or an appeal, she is exactly the kind of solicitor you want in your corner — knowledgeable, tenacious, and genuinely invested in achieving the best possible outcome for the people she represents.

Foysal's academic credentials are impressive by any measure. He holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of London — one of the world's most prestigious legal institutions — and went on to pursue his legal career on the international stage, relocating to New Zealand where he completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and a Graduate Certificate in Law at the University of Waikato. He is currently furthering his qualifications still further by studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in the UK, demonstrating that his commitment to professional development is as strong today as it has ever been.

For clients who themselves come from international backgrounds or who have legal matters that span more than one country, that breadth of knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset.

At Buckingham Legal Associates, Foysal's work focuses on visa applications, with a particular specialism in family visas — covering both permanent and temporary routes. Family visa cases often involve clients who are facing the prospect of prolonged separation from those they love most, and Foysal never loses sight of the very human dimension of that reality. His ability to combine sharp legal knowledge with genuine empathy for his clients' situations is one of the qualities that clients consistently highlight when reflecting on their experience of working with him. He is someone who takes his responsibilities to his clients seriously and works tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome in every case.

That same drive and resilience is something he brings to his clients' cases every single day — because he understands, perhaps better than most, what it means to navigate unfamiliar systems in pursuit of a better future.

Foysal speaks English, Bengali, and Hindi fluently, which means he is well placed to communicate effectively and naturally with clients from a wide range of South Asian backgrounds, ensuring they feel understood and properly supported throughout what can often be a complex and stressful process.

Outside of work, Foysal is a devoted husband and father of two daughters, and family life is clearly at the heart of everything he does. He enjoys travelling and exploring new destinations, and has a talent for photography — capturing the moments and places that matter to him with a creative eye that reflects his broader curiosity about the world. He enjoys fiction, has a love of 90s Hindi music, and when the opportunity arises, relishes a competitive game of FIFA or chess with friends and family.

Foysal Hossain is, in every sense, a standout member of the Buckingham Legal Associates team — someone whose qualifications, international experience, and genuine commitment to his clients make him an exceptional choice for anyone navigating the family visa process or any other area of UK immigration law. Masuma Dil Afroz

Immigration Paralegal

Masuma contributes a rich background of expertise drawn from her prior experiences. As a licensed advocate for the Bangladesh Bar Council, she gained practical experience in both the lower courts and the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She provided support in legal work and research for prominent corporate and civil law chambers within the country, thereby acquiring invaluable insights into crafting successful applications concerning a range of matters including corporations, family law and human rights. Her expertise was further augmented through collaborations with reputed international organizations, including Geneva Call and Commonwealth Human Rights UK (CHRI UK), where she concentrated on critical international humanitarian and human rights issues impacting contemporary communities. Currently, she is extending her extensive knowledge and experience into a foreign legal jurisdiction such as the UK, driven by her profound commitment to legal service. Outside her professional endeavors, Masuma is an avid cinephile. She relishes the experience of watching and engaging with narratives on the big screen alongside friends and family. She perceives films as an exceptional medium not only for understanding the world but also for transcending it; when stories move beyond reality, she enjoys venturing into alternative dimensions during her leisure. Additionally, she has a keen interest in writing, playing board games, and travelling.

While she does not provide legal advice herself, Masuma plays an essential role in ensuring that the firm's legal advisors are always fully prepared and equipped to do their best work. Her meticulous approach to case preparation, her eye for detail, and her ability to ensure that everything is thoroughly organised and in place before a legal advisor picks up a file makes a genuine and tangible difference to the quality of service that clients receive. Those who work alongside her know that when Masuma has prepared a case, it is ready — and that confidence allows the legal team to focus their expertise precisely where it is needed most.

What sets Masuma apart from many in her role is the depth of her academic understanding of the legal frameworks that underpin the firm's work. She holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Eastern University, Bangladesh, where she built a thorough and wide-ranging foundation in law before going on to complete a Master of Laws at the same institution — developing a strong and sophisticated understanding of international human rights law, refugee law, and the legislative frameworks that underpin complex legal practice.

Perhaps the most remarkable chapter of Masuma's academic journey came when she was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights — one of the most prestigious institutions in the world for the study of international law, and a joint centre of the Graduate Institute Geneva and the University of Geneva. Relocating to Geneva to pursue her studies entirely on the strength of her academic merit, Masuma completed an LLM — Master of Advanced Studies in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, graduating Cum Laude. The fact that she earned her place there purely through a competitive scholarship, and then uprooted her life to live abroad and see it through, speaks volumes about both her academic ability and her personal determination. Her LLM paper, supervised by renowned international law scholar Nils Melzer, examined freedom of public discrimination and the complexities of European jurisprudence — a piece of work that reflects the very highest level of legal thinking.

That academic grounding means that Masuma understands not just the administrative requirements of good case preparation, but the legal significance of what she is preparing. She knows what matters, why it matters, and what the legal team will need — and she ensures it is always there. That level of understanding, combined with her dedication to thoroughness and precision, means her contribution to the firm goes far beyond what might typically be expected of a paralegal role.

Masuma is a genuinely outstanding addition to the Buckingham Legal Associates team. Her academic credentials are among the most impressive of any member of the firm, and her commitment to the principles of human rights and justice that underpin immigration law is evident in everything she does. For clients navigating complex immigration matters, knowing that someone of Masuma's calibre is working behind the scenes to ensure their case is in the best possible shape is a genuine reassurance.

Aishwarya Pawar

Senior Immigration Paralegal

Aishwarya Pawar has spent the last couple of years building up solid, hands-on experience in UK immigration law, and plays an important and wide-ranging role at Buckingham Legal Associates. As a Senior Immigration Paralegal, she works closely alongside the firm's accredited caseworkers and legal advisors, making sure that everything is properly prepared, organised, and ready ahead of each case. But her responsibilities extend well beyond her own caseload — Aishwarya also supervises other paralegals within the team, providing day-to-day guidance, oversight, and support that ensures the firm's high standards of preparation and organisation are consistently maintained across the board. She has experience in training junior paralegals, helping them to develop the skills, knowledge, and attention to detail that the role demands, and her willingness to invest in those around her is something that genuinely strengthens the whole team.

Alongside her supervisory responsibilities, Aishwarya plays an active role in the operational management of the firm, supporting the smooth and efficient running of the practice behind the scenes. Her ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously — overseeing her own work, supporting junior colleagues, and contributing to the operational side of the business — reflects a level of professionalism and capability that goes well beyond her years of experience in the UK.

Her route into UK immigration law is an interesting one. She holds a B.Com with a specialisation in Taxation alongside an LLB Law degree, and began her career at a tax firm before moving to a US-based legal support company where she worked on American immigration and litigation matters. It was there that she discovered a real passion for immigration law, which ultimately brought her to the UK and to Buckingham Legal Associates. That cross-jurisdictional experience — spanning Indian, US, and UK legal environments — gives her a broader understanding of the challenges international clients often face, and adds a perspective to her work that is genuinely valuable to the firm.

While Aishwarya does not provide legal advice herself, her role is an essential one — a well-prepared file, a well-run team, and a smoothly managed operation makes a real difference to the quality of service clients receive, and that is where Aishwarya's diligence, leadership, and attention to detail genuinely shine.

Aishwarya speaks English, Hindi, and Marathi fluently, which allows her to communicate naturally with clients from South Asian backgrounds and ensure they feel comfortable throughout the process.

Outside of work, she's something of a creative soul. She enjoys photography, crafting, and cooking — and takes the latter seriously, experimenting with different cuisines and relishing her role as a home chef. Weekends often involve her dogs, and when the weather is right, a short hike to catch a good sunset, which she finds a genuinely restorative way to switch off after a busy week.

When it comes to unwinding indoors, Aishwarya gravitates towards suspense thrillers, though her reading choices tend to shift with her mood. Musically, she's a fan of Arijit Singh and Lucky Ali, and while she's not a die-hard sports follower, she'll always make time for a cricket World Cup.

Muskaan Chadha

Immigration Paralegal

Muskaan has spent the last couple of years building up solid, hands-on experience in UK immigration law, and has established herself as a dedicated and highly valued member of the Buckingham Legal Associates team. While she does not provide legal advice herself, she works closely alongside the firm's accredited caseworkers and legal advisors, and has developed a keen and instinctive understanding of exactly what needs to be in place for the legal team to do their best work. Files are always thorough, documentation is always in order, and nothing is ever left to chance — and that consistency has a direct and meaningful impact on the outcomes achieved for clients. In a field where preparation can make or break a case, Muskaan's contribution is one that genuinely moves the needle.

Her ability to keep communication flowing smoothly — between clients, caseworkers, and legal advisors — is another quality that sets her apart. She ensures that everyone involved in a case has what they need, when they need it, and that clients are kept informed and supported throughout what can often be a lengthy and stressful process. That seamless coordination behind the scenes is something clients may not always see directly, but they feel the benefit of it at every stage of their immigration journey.

Her route into UK immigration law is one that reflects a genuine and long-standing commitment to human rights and justice. Muskaan holds an LLM in Human Rights — a postgraduate qualification that gives her a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of the legal frameworks that underpin much of the firm's work, particularly in asylum and human rights-based immigration cases. During her time at the University of Nottingham, she also served as a research assistant, contributing to significant and impactful research projects that included the rights of autistic detainees and an examination of refugee law in the context of the Ukraine and Russia conflict. That kind of academic rigour and engagement with real-world human rights issues is something that continues to inform the way she approaches her work at Buckingham Legal Associates every single day.

Earlier in her legal career, Muskaan gained experience in medical negligence law and played a meaningful role in shaping regulations around public gatherings — a breadth of early experience that speaks to her adaptability and her genuine interest in using the law to protect and advance the rights of individuals. It was her deep commitment to human rights, however, that ultimately drew her towards immigration law, and over the last couple of years she has developed a thorough and practical understanding of the UK immigration system that makes her an increasingly valuable member of the casework team.

At Buckingham Legal Associates, Muskaan's work is focused primarily on asylum matters and leave to remain cases — areas that sit at the heart of the firm's practice and that require a particularly thoughtful, careful, and compassionate approach. She understands the profound significance of these cases for the individuals involved and ensures that everything within her remit is handled with the attention to detail and sensitivity it deserves. Her background in human rights law gives her a deeper appreciation of the legal principles at stake in many of these cases, and that understanding adds real value to the support she provides to the legal team. The legal advisors she works alongside know that when Muskaan has prepared a case, it is ready — and that confidence allows them to focus their energy and expertise where it matters most.

Beyond her casework, Muskaan has also dedicated time to working with NGOs focused on child rights — a commitment that reflects her broader desire to make a meaningful and positive contribution to society, not just within the walls of a law firm but in the wider world as well.

Muskaan speaks English and Hindi fluently, and has achieved a B1 level in Spanish — a linguistic range that allows her to communicate effectively with clients from a variety of backgrounds and ensure they feel properly understood and supported throughout their immigration journey.

Outside of work, Muskaan is someone of wide-ranging and genuinely interesting passions. She is an avid reader — her favourite book is Cheese and the Worms by Carlo Ginzburg, a choice that reflects her intellectual curiosity and her interest in history and human experience. She is drawn to war documentaries and period dramas, and musically her tastes are eclectic and adventurous, with Porcupine Tree among her favourite artists. She is also a passionate practitioner of Kathak and contemporary dance, bringing the same discipline and creativity to the dance floor that she applies to her professional life.

When she steps away from her desk, Muskaan enjoys swimming, trekking, and travelling to new destinations, and cherishes the time she spends with family and friends. She has a deep love of dogs, which — alongside her broader commitment to compassion and justice — says a great deal about her character.

Muskaan is a thoughtful, dedicated, and exceptionally well-rounded member of the Buckingham Legal Associates team. Her academic grounding in human rights, her growing expertise in UK immigration law, her instinctive understanding of what it takes to run a case smoothly, and her genuine passion for the work she does make her an invaluable part of the firm. The success the firm achieves for its clients is a team effort — and Muskaan's role in that success is one that should not be underestimated.

Chaahat Jain

Immigration Paralegal

Chaahat Jain brings a rich and genuinely impressive background in international human rights and immigration law to her role as an Immigration Paralegal at Buckingham Legal Associates. While she does not provide legal advice herself, she works closely alongside the firm's accredited caseworkers and legal advisors, ensuring that cases are thoroughly prepared, carefully organised, and ready for the legal team to act on. Her deep understanding of the legal frameworks that underpin immigration and asylum work means she brings far more than administrative support to the team — she brings genuine legal insight, sharp research skills, and a meticulous approach to preparation that makes a real and meaningful difference to the cases she works on.

Chaahat holds a BBA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Noida, and went on to complete an LLM in International Human Rights Law at City, University of London — one of the UK's leading law schools — giving her a strong and sophisticated grounding in the legal principles that sit at the heart of immigration and asylum practice. Her academic journey took her from India to London, a move that reflects both her ambition and her commitment to developing the very highest level of expertise in her field.

Her professional background is equally impressive and unusually broad. Prior to joining Buckingham Legal Associates, Chaahat worked as a Legal Consultant for Human Rights Defender Alert-India in Delhi, where she was entrusted with working on a major European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights project focused on strengthening access to justice for the most vulnerable. She has also completed an internship with the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative in London, where she conducted research on modern slavery issues and contributed to protection frameworks — experience that is directly relevant to some of the most complex and sensitive cases the firm handles.

Her pro bono work at the City Community Legal Advice Centre in London further demonstrates her commitment to using her legal knowledge to make a real difference. There she led a project promoting public legal education among migrant communities, engaged directly with clients on British citizenship law, and collaborated on the Street Law Project — an initiative she also led at City Law School, where she served as Team Leader for the Immigration Street Law Project. She has additionally worked with Save the Children India, the Migration and Asylum Project India, and Act for Displaced Bangladesh — a breadth of experience spanning refugee law, gender-based violence, child rights, and asylum procedures across multiple jurisdictions and contexts.

Chaahat has also presented research on the socio-economic conditions of Rohingya refugees to Indian Parliamentarians, and has had her research paper on human rights and women published in an ISBN-numbered academic book — achievements that speak to a level of intellectual engagement and commitment to her field that goes well beyond what might typically be expected at this stage of a legal career. She holds additional certificates from Stanford University in International Women's Health and Human Rights, and has completed specialist training in refugee law and policy.

Outside of work, Chaahat is a passionate and prolific blogger with a particular obsession with books. Her book review blogs are anything but conventional — she brings a creative and distinctive voice to her writing, crafting reviews that are as engaging and thoughtful as they are insightful. For Chaahat, books are not just something to be read but something to be explored, unpacked, and written about with genuine enthusiasm. It is a hobby that reflects the same curiosity, attention to detail, and love of ideas that she brings to her work every single day.

Chaahat Jain is a truly impressive addition to the Buckingham Legal Associates team — someone whose academic credentials, international experience, and genuine passion for human rights and justice make her an invaluable part of the firm, and a reassuring presence for clients navigating some of the most complex and sensitive immigration matters.

Leena Joshi

Administrative Assistant

Leena Joshi is the welcoming and highly capable first point of contact at Buckingham Legal Associates, playing a vital role in ensuring that every client who reaches out to the firm is met with professionalism, warmth, and efficiency from the very first interaction.

As Administrative Assistant and Communications Lead, Leena manages the flow of client enquiries, ensures that communications are handled promptly and clearly, and makes certain that clients are connected with the right legal advisor at the right time. In a firm where the quality of client experience matters enormously, Leena's role is one that sets the tone — and she sets it exceptionally well.

What makes Leena particularly valuable in her position is the breadth and depth of professional experience she brings to it. With a career spanning over two decades across HR, administration, legal environments, and client-facing roles, she has developed an exceptional ability to manage people, communication, and processes simultaneously — and to do so with the kind of calm, organised efficiency that makes everything around her run smoothly. Clients contacting the firm for the first time can be nervous, uncertain, or overwhelmed, and Leena's natural ability to put people at ease, listen carefully, and ensure their needs are properly understood and directed is something that makes a genuine difference from the very first conversation. Leena's legal background adds a further dimension to her role that sets her apart from a typical administrative professional. She holds an LLB, completed with a first division, which gives her a solid understanding of legal processes and terminology. That knowledge means she is well placed to understand the nature of a client's enquiry, identify what kind of legal support they need, and ensure they are connected with the most appropriate member of the legal team without delay.

She also holds an MBA in Human Resources from Amity Business School, Noida, and a Diploma in Training and Development from the Indian Society of Training and Development — qualifications that speak to her broader professional capabilities and her commitment to operating at the highest standard in everything she does. Her professional background is impressively varied. Leena spent a significant period of her career in HR and administrative leadership roles at some of India's most reputable law firms, an experience that gave her a thorough understanding of how a legal practice operates, the importance of clear communication and process, and the value of a well-run administrative function in supporting a legal team to do its best work. Managing HR and administrative operations at a senior level within legal environments means she understands the pace, the pressures, and the standards expected within a legal practice — and she brings all of that understanding to her role at Buckingham Legal Associates every day. Earlier in her career, Leena honed her client-facing and communications skills in senior customer care and process training roles at leading organisations, where she consistently delivered to the highest standards — winning the Star Performer Award on multiple occasions — and went on to train and develop new team members, a responsibility that reflects the trust placed in her and her natural ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Leena is, in many ways, the engine room of the firm's day-to-day client communications — the person who ensures that no enquiry goes unanswered, no client feels lost, and every interaction with Buckingham Legal Associates leaves people feeling heard, supported, and in good hands. Her combination of legal knowledge, administrative expertise, and genuine warmth makes her an indispensable part of the team and a hugely reassuring presence for clients at every stage of their journey with the firm.
